AshBourne 2024
On Sunday, July 7th, the annual NSTK summer course took place at Ashbourne Leisure Centre. I would like to extend a special thank you to all the NSTK instructors for their professionalism and enthusiasm, as well as to the organizers, especially the NSTK secretary for making it an enjoyable well-run experience for everyone. A big thank you also goes to Joe Connelly and Jesse Gerald of JG Photography for capturing the day through their photographs. More Images of the course will be available at:

The day began with a comprehensive warm-up session to prepare the students for training. After the welcome, the students were divided into groups based on their grades or experience. The first session focused on karate basics, ensuring that the students used the correct form.
The training then included Kata Ohyo Kumite Sanbon Kumite, with opportunities for students to participate in points and continuous sparring. Takedown and defence from ground attacks were taught on mats for safety, followed by Kali (stick-fighting) and sparring drills. Practical self-defence techniques were also covered, with some students attempting grades in the afternoon. The day concluded with a Kata competition, and all attendees received a course certificate.
The course instructors were introduced, with students and parents showing their appreciation. New Dan grades received their Black belts or were promoted to 2nd and 4th Dan. The kata medal winners were presented, followed by the traditional bow and the conclusion of the course.
